Rupumpack Insulated Hydration Backpack Review

The Rupumpack has a water bladder that holds up to 2.5 liters, giving you enough water for all your activities during the day. The pack is excellent for mountain biking, hiking, running, and even for school kids.

Men, women, and kids can enjoy using it. The bladder is BPA free and made of EVA material so your drink will not contain any harmful chemicals. 2.5 liters of water can last you all day long and keep you hydrated so you won’t feel tired.

You can easily fill up the bladder because it has a large 3.4 inch opening. Plus this opening makes it very convenient to add ice cubes into the bladder so your drink will stay cooler longer. The big opening also makes it easy to empty and clean inside the bladder.

This backpack has been designed to be very practical. There are 11 different compartments for you to use. There is an ipad pocket which is built-in the main compartment. For storing your clothes there is an extra large zipper compartment. There is also room for a 13 inch laptop, camera, and towels.

On the wide waist straps there are 2 extra pockets where you can put your phone along with 7 other items. There is an open compartment designed so that you can quickly store your sweat towel.

If you have a coffee mug or an umbrella you can store them inside the packs two mesh pockets. They can be found on both sides of the backpack. These mesh pockets are strong and flexible so you can carry whatever you like with you easily.

The Rupumpack hydration backpack is very comfortable when you wear it. The shoulder straps, waist straps, and back area all have ventilated mesh padding. This is to keep you cool and comfortable. The mesh allows air to flow through increasing the cooling effect.

To ensure water stays cool the bladder is equipped with a hydration insulation layer which is made from high-quality aluminum foil. This keeps liquids cool for up to 5 hours even during hot days when you add ice cubes.

Many other bladders, when you first take a sip the water will be warm. But the Rupumpack tube has a premium quality neoprene tube cover which helps to stop temperature changes in hot and cold weather conditions.

How To Clean Rupumpack

The best way to clean this backpack is to use a wet sponge. The pack is water resistant so you can wipe down the outside and the inside. Use warm water and soap to clean the bladder. Be sure to swish around the water and wipe down the inside. You can also add some vinegar to prevent any smells.

18 Rupumpack Insulated Hydration Backpack Tips

1. This pack is water resistant but it is not waterproof. You can add a pack of ice and two water bottles, but then condensation may build up. Other pockets might get a little wet.

2. You can bring this pack while it is raining. The contents that are in your pack will stay dry.

3. This pack can fit a 15 inch laptop, but it will not fit a Galaxy Note 9.

4. This pack comes with a 2.5 liter bladder, but if you want to use a 3 liter bladder, there is probably enough room for it to fit. But you will lose some space to fit any other items you have.

5. You can’t tuck the waist straps for storage in the back panel of the backpack. But you can clip them across the outside of the pack in order to keep them out of your way. Or you can just remove the waist straps.

6. There is room to fit an ice pack and lunch in the same compartment in order to keep the water cooler longer. Even when the bladder is full there is room in the insulated section for an ice pack.

7. This pack fits children because the straps are adjustable. A 5 foot 2 inch girl and a 4 foot 8 inch boy will be able to use the pack successfully.

8. The side waist pocket of the backpack can fit a iphone 8 plus and anything which is around that same size. Something larger like an iphone 7 can go in one of the mesh pockets.

9. To drink water make sure the valve is on. Do this by easily pulling the valve up by biting it slightly and then suck. When you are not using it, push it down to prevent leakage.

10. This pack can fit larger men. I have seen men who are over 6 feet tall and over 200 pounds wearing the Rupumpack backpack.

11. If you have a dog and want to fill up his dog water dish it might be tricky. The mouthpiece is designed so you have to suck out the water. You would need to pull up the valve so water will flow better. Or you can open the reservoir opening and pour out the water.

12. The insulated pocket is large enough for you to put the bladder in there along with some food so they will both stay cold.

13. The backpack is machine washable. Use cold water to wash it in the machine and put the cycle on light or delicate.

14. This pack does fit smaller women. The straps can be adjusted to fit a woman who is 5 feet tall and around 110 pounds.

15. If you have a big belly the hip belt can probably fit you. The hip belt can fit a 59 inch waist.

16. The measurements of this pack are 17.7 x 9.8 x 5.9 inches.

17. The shoulder straps are 2.5 inches wide, so they will fit flush on your shoulders without digging in to your skin.

18. The chest strap can be raised or lowered to customize your fit. The total adjustment has a range of 2 inches.

Positive Experiences of Customers Using the Rupumpack Hydration Backpack

Has more room than Camelback

This hiker has a Camelbak and said that it does not have enough room for her stuff. She bought this pack because it has more space than the Camelbak. She likes that it has many pockets and that the bladder compartment is insulated.

She went on a hike and the water stayed cold for 5 hours. She was very happy about that. Plus she finds that the pack is easy on her back and shoulders.

Petite woman

This woman is 5 feet tall and has a petite frame. She is happy this pack has a slender profile as she describes it. The straps are not too thick for her small frame. For her trip to the Galapagos she used this backpack and really liked the mesh water bottle pockets on the outside.

She always had one bottle and an umbrella with her. The waist pockets were very helpful for her to bring small change for public transportation and for tips at the restaurant.

7 day hiking

This woman is 5 foot 4 inches and used this pack to hiking up a mountain for 7 days. She explained that this was the only backpack that had a hip belt that actually rested on her hip bones. One negative for her was at the end of the day her back was sweaty. Not much space between her back and the pack.

The water bladder worked great for her and she drank 2 liters of water everyday. Drinking water was easy, the water came out no problem. She likes the mouthpiece cover which stopped her drink from getting dirt in it. There was no leaking from the mouthpiece or the o-ring.

Froze hydration pack

This woman says she froze the hydration pack ahead of time. She was in 100 degree heat and the water stayed cold for 10 hours. She was amazed. I would not recommend freezing the pack but I guess it worked for her. Nothing broke or cracked.

She likes that there are many compartments and yet the pack is not heavy. In the larger pocket she can fit a light jacket or a small light weight blanket. The straps give her a lot of room for adjustments. She is 5 foot 2 inches. Says the pack is comfortable when fully loaded with water.

Mountain biking

This mountain biker says you won’t even know you are wearing this pack when you ride. Because it is very light and comfortable. Says it is for day riding because it does not hold too much. He can bring the water, food bag, emergency kit, and camera.

One tip from him is that the backpack is not water resistant. He says to zip lock any important stuff you have if you don’t want it to get wet in the rain.

Loves the waist pockets

This hiker especially likes the waist pockets of this backpack. He says he loves it because he can get what he wants without taking off the backpack. Plus it is very comfortable for him. There is a lot of storage and he likes the color.

Inside the entire backpack he can fit 2 jackets, an emergency kit, snacks, and a full water bladder. He uses the full 2.5 liters of water and there have not been any leaks. The last thing he really likes he says is the mouthpiece cover. No more worrying about it touching the floor or getting dirt in it.

Spartan race

This guy used this pack for a Spartan race. He said the backpack met 3 criteria for the race, it was tough, keep the water cool, and held a lot. During the race he was able to bring the water, food, and clothing. Plus his first aid gear.

Also during the race he said the pack was stable on his back. It did not bounce around very much. It stayed in position during while he went over walls, rope climbs, A-frames, and heavy carries. The clip kept the water tube in its place so he could get a drink easily.

He thought the pockets and waist belt were very helpful. He brought lip balm and sunscreen on one side and stored snacks on the other. It was comfortable for him because the chest strap was simple to connect, close down, and adjust.

Great customer service

This guy had trouble with the water not going through the tube. He got mostly air he explained. He tried to fix it himself and even had some friends try to help. No luck. Finally he emailed Rupumpack customer service. They replied fast. After explaining the problem they sent him a new bladder.

When the bladder arrived it worked great. As for the rest of the backpack, he likes the nylon fabric and says it is heavy duty. There are many compartments for him to store everything he needs. The opening of the bladder is large so he can add ice cubes to make it colder.

Review of Poor Experiences Using the Rupumpack Insulated Hydration Backpack

When the pack arrived for this first person one strap was already unstitched. There were only 5 stitches holding it together. There was no time to return it before his hike so he fixed it himself. But during the hike the other strap broke. This must have been defective.

The next person thought the pack was good for only walking, jogging, or hiking. He said the material felt weak. The pockets on the front were okay according to him. But thought they don’t hold much. His iphone 12 pro and wallet were a tight fit.

The third person has been using the Rupumpack for 2 years and says it should last longer. The seams all over the pack are torn. Even the seams inside the pack are torn. He says the pack is unusable after 2 years. He has had a High Sierra pack for 10 years and none of the stitches are out of place.

The last person has a problem with the water tasting bad. He said he thought he did not clean it properly. So cleaned it again with water and a cleaning solution. But no matter how many times he cleaned the bladder the water always tasted like plastic. Overall he likes the backpack but the water does not taste good.

Keep in mind these negative experiences do not happen very often. But I thought I should review them for you because no matter how high a rating a product has there will always be some poor experiences with the product. Overall the Rupumpack is highly recommended.
